VІІІ International conference for international students “Dialogue of Cultures in the European Education Space” completed its work

On May 10, 2023 VІІІ International conference for international students “Dialogue of Cultures in the European Education Space” was held at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design in the framework as a part of Europe Day and Ukrainian Science Day festivities. The purpose of the conference is to share experience in improving the quality of foreign students’ training at the institutions of higher education of Ukraine and the world, improving their adaptation in the language environment, creating conditions for research and public speaking and to create a professional platform for discussing philological aspects of intercultural dialogue.

The conference was held by Foreign Languages Department, KNUTD Institute of Law and Modern Technologies. This remarkable meeting was organized with the support of International Project INTREPID-HEI, British Council Creative Spark project, International Cultural and Educational Association (ICEA), Muslim Magomayev Azerbaijan Culture Center and Azerbaijan Writers’ Union.

The co-organizers of the conference are: Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University (Vinnytsia), Kyiv National Linguistic University, Kryvyi Rih National University, Swiss Montreux Business School, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Tashkent Medical Academy (Uzbekistan), Department of Ukrainian Studies at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the University of Wroclaw (Poland), International Cultural and Educational Association (USA), Academic Society of Michal Baludansky (Slovakia), Istanbul University Language Center, company European Education in Ukraine, Union of Azerbaijan Youth in Ukraine.

The conference participants expressed their gratitude to the University administration, the co-organizers, guests, students and their research supervisors; notice the tradition of fostering the spirit of patriotism, defending European values, the potential of scientific development, attractiveness and competitiveness of international cooperation and training Ukrainian and foreign students of KNUTD.

The moderators of the event were Tetiana VLASIUK – PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Law and Modern Technologies and Svitlana DVORIANCHYKOVA – PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Philology and Translation.

In general, more than 100 representatives of the academic staff, young scientists and students from KNUTD, co-sponsoring universities, different Ukrainian regions, many countries such as the USA, Poland, Czechia, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, China, South Korea, Nigeria, Iraq, Algeria, and Turkey and partner firms presented their papers.

The work of the conference was in the following main areas:

1. Cultural and educational traditions of Ukraine and other countries.

2. Development of modern institutions of higher education of Ukraine and the world.

3. Traditions and prospects of teaching foreign students at the institutions of higher education of Ukraine and the world.

4. Foreign students in the language environment of modern Ukraine and other countries in the context of transformation and globalization.

5. Mastering foreign languages as a factor in increasing the professional and educational opportunities of citizens of other countries who receive higher education in Ukraine and other countries.

6. Philology through the prism of cultures’ dialogue.

At the plenary session, the organizers and guests of the conference made a welcome speech.

Lyudmyla KRUHLENKO – PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor, Researcher at the University of Bamberg (Germany), Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Kryvyi Rih National University, PhD, associate professor. Valentyna OBEREMCHUK – PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Researcher at the University of Bamberg (Germany), Associate Professor of the Department of Business Economics and Entrepreneurship of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman.

Nataliia PAZIURA – Doctor of Science in  Pedagogy, Professor, Head of the Department of Aviation English at the National Aviation University. Olena PALATOVSKA – Doctor of Science in  Philology, Professor, Professor of the Department of Oriental and Slavic Philology of the Kyiv National Linguistic University.

Olena DOLYNIAK-SEITZ – Vice-President of International Cultural and Educational Association and the Ukrainian-American Association of College Educators, Director of International Programs. Elkhan NURIIEV – Founder and Co-coordinator of the Anti-Putin Information Front project, Founder of the company European Education in Ukraine. Ilgar TURKOGLU – Member of Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, Member of Turkey Writers’ Union, Director of the Intellectual Law Center of Azerbaijan.

The conference participants welcomed all members and wished them effective work, expressing hope for them to be able to contribute to the crucial component to the university’s efforts training students for an increasingly diverse world. Communicating well across cultures and competing globally determine success; develop cultural awareness, critical thinking skills, and communicative proficiency essential to navigate in a complex global environment.

– Secrets of English translation – Sofiіa AVRAMENKO;

– Lexical-semantic features of the Australian and Canadian variants of the English language – Daria LUKANICHEVA;

– Features of higher education in Norway – Sofiia VANIUTINA;

– The popularity of the translator profession in England – Maryna KYRYCHENKO;

– Dubbing in Ukraine and around the world – Kristina NIKACHALO.

The reports arouse the interest and active discussion of the participants and guests.

The conference organizers awarded the most active participants with honorary diplomas.
